IRA RENNERT ISN'T JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE

No, He's A Prince Among Men In His Own Right!

In addition to his innovative financial practices (such as taking $500 million in salary and benefits from a series of highly leverage companies, Ira Rennert is also on the forefront of pollution technology. He owns Doe Run Company in St. Louis, which operates the Herculaneum, MO helter smelter, the La Oroya smelter high in the Andes and Utah's number one polluter, American Magnesium and WCI Steel. Ira has also owned AM General, manufacturer of the Hummer. Surprise.
In February 2006, the federal government filed to seize the pension plan of the bankrupt WCI Steel, saying the plan was more than $100 million short of the amount it needed. The move is a first step toward holding WCI's corporate parent, the Renco Group, responsible for the money. The problem is that if the pension plan becomes insolvent, the steel workers may lose about $23 miilion in benefits. Where is that money? hint: The Renco Group is Ira. It also owns his pretty nice house. The house cost more to built than the shortfall in the pension; hense the government's threat to put a lien on the house.

This monstrosity didn't make the locals happy for a lot of rasons. It is a forty-two- thousand-square-foot single-family home on a sixty-three-acre Hamptons potato field.
