IRA RENNERT ISN'T JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE

No, He's A Prince Among Men In His Own Right!

In addition to his innovative financial practices (such as taking $500 million in salary and benefits from a series of highly leveraged companies, Ira Rennert is also on the forefront of pollution technology.

Rennert’s owns 95% ownership of Renco Group, a private holding company whose principal subsidiaries are the only primary magnesium producer in the U.S., US Magnesium Corp. (MagCorp), and the largest primary lead producer in the western world, Doe Run Resources Corporation. The Doe Run Company in St. Louis, operates the Herculaneum, MO helter smelter and the La Oroya smelter high in the Andes. Renco also owns Utah's number one polluter, U.S. Magnesium and WCI Steel.

This monstrosity didn't make the locals happy for a lot of reasons. It has 25 bedrooms and as many full bathrooms, 11 sitting rooms, three dining rooms, and two libraries; a servants’ wing with 4 more bedrooms; a power plant big enough to run a large municipal high school or shopping mall; a 10,000-square-foot “playhouse” with two bowling alleys and tennis, squash, and basketball courts; and a multi-story, 17,000-square-foot garage capable of accommodating perhaps 100 cars.

The total area of the buildings at Fair Field is over 100,000 square feet, but the main house alone, at 66,000 square feet, is almost twice as big as the White House and 40% larger than Bill Gates’ more famous home in Washington State. It is said to be the largest single family home in the country. Compare and contrast, if your will, to the living conditions at the notorious La Oroya, a lethal smelting operation in the Andes. The Blacksmith Institute has placed La Oroya on its list of ten most polluted places in the world, along with Chernobyl, Ukraine. In August 2007, it was reported that air levels of arsenic levels were 85 times more than the "safe" level, cadmium 41 times, and lead 13 times more. Water levels of lead exceeded the "safe" lead level (as established by the World Health Organisation) as well. A study by St. Louis University scientists found that 97 percent of children in La Oroya suffer from mental and physical deficiencies related to their exposure to polluted air.
